Lego Instruction – Mosaic – Queen Elizabeth II (Young)

Queen Elizabeth II is the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York. She was educated privately at home and began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In November 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, and their marriage lasted 73 years until Philip’s death in 2021.

When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeth—then 25 years old—became queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, as well as Head of the Commonwealth. Elizabeth has reigned as a constitutional monarch through major political changes such as the Troubles in Northern Ireland, devolution in the United Kingdom, the decolonisation of Africa, and the United Kingdom’s accession to the European Communities and withdrawal from the European Union.

Elizabeth is the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch, the longest-serving female head of state, the oldest living and longest-reigning current monarch, and the oldest and longest-serving incumbent head of state. She has faced occasional republican sentiment and press criticism of the royal family, particularly after the breakdown of her children’s marriages, her annus horribilis in 1992, and the death in 1997 of her former daughter-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales. However, support for the monarchy in the United Kingdom has been and remains consistently high, as does her personal popularity.

伊利沙伯二世是約克公爵及其夫人（日后的喬治六世及伊利沙伯皇后）的長女，在家中接受私人教育。第二次世界大戰期間，她開始履行公共職責，並於本土輔助部隊服役。1947年伊利沙伯二世與希臘及丹麥的菲臘王子成婚。

伊利沙伯二世亦是英國史上最長壽的君主和世界上目前在世最年長的君主。她在2015年9月9日超越其高祖母在位63年零7個月的維多利亞女皇，成為英國史上在位時間最長的君主，同时亦成為世界歷史上在位時間最長的女性君主及女性國家元首；2016年10月13日，泰王拉瑪九世駕崩後，她成為世界上目前在世的在位時間最長的國家元首；2019年4月23日，已退位的盧森堡大公約輸薨逝後，她成為世界上目前在世的最年長的君主；2022年6月2日，她成為英國史上第一位慶祝白金禧（即位70週年）的君主。

伊利沙伯二世在位期間的重大憲政改革包括英國權力下放、加拿大憲法回歸、非洲去殖民化，其統治下的國家亦經歷了很多戰争及衝突。其他具歷史意義的大事包括成为首位对愛爾蘭共和國進行國事訪問的英國君主，並先後接見和造訪了五位天主教會教宗。也是首位舉辦過兩屆夏季奧林匹克運動會國家元首。

就個人而言，女王一生中的重要事件包括1952年2月因父王早崩而登基、1953年的加冕、其子孫的出生及婚嫁、王夫之舅緬甸伯爵蒙巴頓於1979年遇刺、安妮公主婚姻的破裂（1992年）、前兒媳戴安娜過身（1997年）、其母后伊利沙伯皇太后、御妹瑪格麗特公主的過世（2002年）、其孫哈利王子在2020年退出英國皇室、及與其結婚73年的王夫愛丁堡公爵菲臘親王逝世（2021年4月）。雖然各英聯邦王國内仍存在一定共和主義勢力，對皇室時有批評，但伊利沙伯個人很少受到攻擊，可說是受到民眾的廣泛歡迎，表現出伊利沙伯二世的特別之處。
